Kent Planet #1 | Superman – The Biggest Hero of All Time


“Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound’’ that was the description the character created by Jerry Siegel e Joe Shuster. The first Superman comic arrived at the newsstands 80 years ago bringing to world a new kind of fiction and before Superman weren’t exist superheroes. So, if nowadays we have movies, tv shows, comics and all different kind of media, it’s all because of Superman. When Action Comics number 1 arrived in the USA, Shown on the cover a big guy wearing blue lifting a car, this immediately called the attention showing to the readers that the guy wasn’t from our planet.

During a night Jerry Siegel thinking about the character, he decided that he’ll have super strength to show that he’s not from earth, a cape to have movement and primary colors to stand out among the people. Siegel and Shuster thought he should have a big ”S” on the chest and the uniforme was inspired in circus artists. After that they started to think about the origin of the character and they agreed that Superman was not from our planet, He would be a savior making a direct reference to Jesus. It was necessary give to him a human look, so they decide that he’ll be a journalist like Siegel and Shuster and the name Clark was inspired by the movie star Clark Gable (Gone in the Wind).

It took him a while to gain space. It was only in 1938 that the editor from Action comics offered 13 pages and because of 13 pages it had started the called Golden age of super heroes. 80 years has been passed and him continues to fly through the sky inspiring many superheroes. Through the years our beloved Superman have changed so much,increasing his powers until he became the Superman we kwon. He is a Strong figure no just in the comics but in the cinema too, so many superman’s fans falling in love for him because of the movie Superman- The Movie (1978) starring Christopher Reeve that for many years was the owner of the red cape in theaters. In 2006 came to the cinemas a new movie as a way to bring back the glory days of the character, but Superman- Returns with Brandon Routh did not please fans and again the red cape was hung and many people believed that was the end of the character on the big screen. In 2013 was released a new movie, Man of Steel, this time with a new actor and this time the challenge to replace Reeve stayed with the brit actor Henry Cavill. Finally the search for a new Superman was ended. From 2013 until now, Henry Cavill was seen as Superman in 3 movies and many fans around the world ask for another Superman movie with him.
